Introduction

Once again, our Austrian partner provided us with opportunity to work with one of the leaders in Austrian’s furniture industry - XXXLutz.

XXXLutz and its affiliates do not only supply furniture of all kinds and styles, but also the full range and assortment of products for the home.

Our team was responsible to design a standalone microsite to promote XXXLutz’s video/singing-contest campaign.

Quest was complex, and gnarly: create unique and simple enough Internet application with strict brand guide lines.

So, we took a chisel and started parting our application.

Challenges

Strict brand guidelines, awesome flash experience, clear and simple usability. Ah, yes, we forgot one of the most important facts. It was the project timeframe - they needed it for yesterday...Challenging enough? Well, it was for us.

The first challenge was very strict brand guidelines. We had to use a specific set of colors, fonts and other brand elements. Ouch! Creativity was pretty much limited, and we had other constraints as well in terms of usability and technology.
On top of that, of course, we had to create a unique application that will provide a true value to our client and gain popularity among their consumers. All within limitations we had.

Last, but not least important was timeframe…. We had to complete the application design within 7 working days.
We don’t settle for anything less than top quality. So, the fact that timeframe was way to short had nothing to do with our goal to deliver high quality designs only.

Solutions

With usability on our mind only, we prepared several concepts for the client. The whole team was brainstorming on these concepts, and as many of them were discarded, we finally managed to narrow and select top three ideas to present to the client.

The final concept reflected simplicity and focus on functionality: We simplified navigation, sped-up video upload procedure and made one-click voting system.

What was left to be done was to skin the concept with regards to the strict design and brand guidelines. Fortunately, Saturized’s designers are skillful and experienced enough, so this task wasn’t so difficult. On one hand it was good that we were limited to brand guidelines, on the other hand we were happy to have been able to experiment with different styles on this exciting project.

And, yes... we finished everything within deadline. Just on time!

Results

The Client was more than pleased with our design. Application was successfully launched and we are more then impatient to hear first results from our client.
